Your life is a mist. Wait, what?

Gaining a little perspective.

"Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes."

James 4:14

Another stunning insight into the way things really are.

Yes, you may enjoy a long and healthy life and experience many wonderful things and even leave a legacy of triumph and victory.

But this verse is a massive dose of perspective.

In the end, we are unfortunately all too temporary.

In light of eternity, even the longest life earthly is a vapor, a breath.

We are called to look at who we are and what we do from the perspective of eternity. God has eternity in mind and has planted the truth of transcendence on our hearts. In our basic operating systems we know there is more to life than this. We desire to have knowledge and peace about what comes next.
