He prepares a place for you

A permanent home

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14: 1-4

In Jewish culture at this time, prior to a marriage, typically the groom would use the engagement period to build the home where the new couple would live, and most often this space would be near or even added onto the residence of the groom's father. Then, with the new home complete, the groom would return to his bride and take her with him to the home he had built.

Those who heard Him tell the story would assuredly have identified with and understood the meaning behind the imagery.

Jesus' provision extends beyond this life. After His death and resurrection, He ascended and is with the Father.

He has a plan and will care for us and desires to be with us in a place that He has prepared. In Him we have assurance.
