He is Authority over All

Even His name is Power.

Nothing will withstand Him.

So Judas came to the garden, guiding a detachment of soldiers and some officials from the chief priests and the Pharisees. They were carrying torches, lanterns and weapons.

Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.)

When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

John 18: 3-6

______________________

This happened during the night in the garden just before his betrayal. Jesus' power was so evident that at only the mention of his identity, the representatives of the Jewish and Roman governments of the time were overwhelmed and blown away.

They did not take him by force; he went through their trials, punishment and finally death willfully out of His love for mankind and obedience to the Father.

His resurrection validated his authority. His ministry is continued now through the work of the Holy Spirit and will be completed on His return.
